Founded in 2023, Highland Structural was established to provide specialised, hands-on structural inspection and assessment services. Our mission is to give councils, government agencies and private asset owners clear, practical and dependable engineering advice, all while remaining small in size to ensure a personalised and responsive service.
Highland Structural is currently led by Director and Chartered Structural Engineer, Liam Cunneen, who brings 8+ years of experience completing more than 6,000 structural inspections across Australia. Over his career, Liam has worked with notable clients including:

Recent Projects
Connect Sydney
Highland Structural was engaged by Pitt&Sherry to help deliver a large-scale pit and culvert inspection program on behalf of Connect Sydney. Over a 9 month period, Highland Structural completed more than 2,500 inspections along major arterial roads throughout metropolitan Sydney, with all works carried out during night shifts to minimise disruption to traffic and the surrounding road network.

Highland Structural completed detailed Level 3 inspections of 3no. rail bridges for Sterling Infrastructure within the Sydney Metropolitan area as part of ARTC’s nationwide routine inspections package. Inspections included bridges along Southern Cross Dr in Botany, Joseph St in Chullora and Argyle St in Moss Vale. Due to the high volume of traffic, inspections were completed at night, with the aid of traffic management and an Elevated Work Platform (EWP).

Although we’re based in the Southern Highlands of NSW, we service clients throughout Australia with previous experience delivering inspection programs across QLD, NSW, VIC, SA & WA. Wherever you’re located, we can adapt our approach to ensure full compliance with your governing body.
Do you deliver emergency/reactive inspections?
Yes. Most of our work runs to an agreed inspection schedule across a portfolio of assets, but we also respond to emergency or reactive callouts, such as flood damage, vehicle strikes, or unexpected defects, where turnaround matters more than a fixed program. Either way, you get a Chartered Engineer on the assessment and a report you can act on straight away.
Can your data integrate with our asset management system?
Yes. We format deliverables to be compatible with common asset management systems and can work with your team to match existing data structures.
